Gamers around the world who spend their evenings chasing down Wayne Rooney in FIFA Soccer or scaling rooftops in Assassin’s Creed may not realize where their video games come from, but each one might as well bear a large “Made in Canada” stamp.
That’s because both of those international best selling games were produced by studios based in Canada.
As the video game world prepares for the kick off of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show in Los Angeles next week, a new report conducted by the SECOR Group on behalf of the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) suggests Canada’s video game industry is thriving, led by large studios in Quebec and a vibrant startup scene in Ontario.
For years, Canada has boasted one of the world’s most successful video game industries, playing home to some of the most innovative studios developing some of the most popular titles in the gaming industry.
